Ruth Cringle – Admin Elite
“I set up my business Admin Elite in 2014 as a Virtual Assistant, using the skills I had gained at NatWest, ClientLogic (which ran the BTOpenworld Technical Helpdesk) and Toyota Motor Manufacturing UK Ltd.
As a Virtual Assistant I worked with Accountants sending out their Letters of Engagement, running the Anti-Money Laundering checks using ‘Creditsafe’ and ensuring the Certificates of Due Diligence were up to date. I use Xero and its partner integrations like Receipt Bank and Trip Catcher.
A short time ago a couple of clients asked me if I could come in and help them with their accounts. Knowing that I would need to be registered for Anti-Money Laundering (AML) to offer bookkeeping services as part of my business, and after a couple of discussions with a few local Accountants, I decided an ICB qualification would be the best option for me. After some research I decided to train with Training Link, signing up to one of their packages. This would enable me to gain the required ICB qualifications to obtain my Practice Licence.
I successfully passed my exams in January 2018 and I obtained my licence in April 2018. I already had a client lined up as we had networked together for a while, so in no time, I was offering bookkeeping services as an added service to all of my clients.
I’ll be the first to admit that Maths is not my strong point, however, bookkeeping is about being methodical and organised, and this is something I excel at. I found the course challenging at times, nevertheless I stuck with it and it’s the best feeling in the world writing ‘AICB’ after my name.”
