This package makes up the Level 2 and 3 AAT qualifications ‘Level 2 Foundation Certificate’ & ‘Level 3 Advanced Diploma in Accounting’.
This course consists of Eleven units for which you will receive individual workbooks containing lessons, examples and activities.
The five units making up the Level 2 Certificate are:
Bookkeeping Transactions (BTRN)
This unit introduces you to double entry bookkeeping, the different types of accounts and records a business keeps and how to enter transactions into the accounts.
Bookkeeping Controls (BKCL)
This unit follows on nicely from Bookkeeping Transactions. You will learn how to identify errors in the accounts and make corrections. You will also learn about the banking system and how to create a full set of accounts up to trial balance.
Using Accounting Software (UACS)
For this unit you will be required to use your knowledge of bookkeeping and double entry to enter a company’s data into a computerised system.
We base this unit on using Sage 50 Professional software. This the most popular choice in the industry and used extensively by employers and accountancy practices. The fundamentals of data entry are covered within this unit but as this is a work entry level we also offer the Sage 50 Professional courses and certificate as an inclusive option. This has proven to be our most popular choice over the years as it provides more employment opportunities.
Elements of Costing (ELCO)
This unit introduces you to management accounting, You will learn how a business uses accounts to help them plan for the future and the different type of costs involved in running a business.
Working Effectively in Accounting (WEAF)
This is the final unit for Level 2 covering working effectively and efficiently in an office environment and how to manage your workload. There is no standalone exam for this as it will be covered in the final Synoptic Assessment.
Foundation Synoptic Assessment (FSYA)

The Six units of learning making up the Level 3 Diploma are:

The Synoptic assessment will include elements of the four units already studied, PLUS you will be tested on knowledge of Spreadsheet Software and Professional Ethics (making six in total).
Indirect Tax (IDRX)
This unit covers the treatment of VAT, VAT thresholds, when to register for VAT, how to complete a VAT return and all you need to know about VAT for the small to medium business
Advanced Bookkeeping (AVBK)
This unit follows on from trial balance stage at level 2. You will learn how to prepare accounts from partial information, correction of errors and how to produce an Extended Trial Balance in preparation of preparing financial statements.
Final Accounts Preparation (FAPR)
You will learn how to prepare financial accounts (statement of profit and loss and statement of financial position) for sole traders and partnerships.

The AAT Advanced Diploma in Accounting is subject to re-sit restrictions.
Students will only be entered for an assessment once they are well prepared and they are expected to pass.
The AAT Advanced Diploma in Accounting is subject to re-sit restrictions in England, Wales and Northern Ireland when offered to 16–19-year-old students as part of their study programme. If those students who are subject to re-sit restrictions fail any of the unit or synoptic assessments at the first sitting, they will have only one opportunity to re-sit the assessment, which will be different from the first, within their programme of study. If they do not pass an assessment after one re-sit, they will not be able to undertake further attempts within their current agreed study programme and will not have achieved the qualification.
Q: What is the average completion time for these courses?
A: Much depends on how easily you adapt or if you have any previous knowledge or experience. Our statistics show that our students take anything from 6 months to 24 months to complete a Level 2 and 3 combined course.

“I have had a really good experience with Training Link. I just got my exam results for Level 2 and got 89%. Very pleased with that. My tutor Angie had been very supportive over the time and very helpful. The proof is in my mark. Started Level 3 and my new tutor Michelle is again very helpful.”
Vincent White, Rated: 5
“Excellent. Course work is well laid out with plenty of examples and assessment material to work through. The course tutor is friendly and very helpful and quick to reply to my emails. Already done AAT level 2 and currently almost completed AAT level 3 with Training Link with no problems.”

“I have had great success studying with Training Link to date, having completed Level 2 AAT and am now progressing to Level 3. The tutors give great timely advise and the online assessments prepare you for the actual exams very well.”

“Would highly recommend Training Link. All members of staff have been very helpful and easy to talk to. I like the way the coursework is laid out in the books, you learn a chapter then do an assessment before you can go onto the next. I mostly do my course work at weekend’s when tutors are not available but am always guaranteed a response Monday morning with solutions to any issues. On AAT L2 nearly done and next L3. I was a bit upset when my tutor changed but I have to say Angie has been great.”
