As a distance learner, Izzy appreciated the flexibility that Training Link’s resources afforded her. This allowed her to balance her studies with her work and personal commitments. Her dedication was evident in her achievements, as she earned a distinction in all three AAT levels.

Discovering a Passion for Finance

While her peers chose the ‘traditional’ university route, Izzy found a more dynamic, practical and hands-on approach through AAT. After working in the outdoor activity industry, Izzy realised that her true calling lay in finance and she began her AAT journey.

Izzy’s commitment to her studies paid off quickly. She landed her first finance role as a Finance Administrator before even completing her AAT level 2 qualifications. Her impressive progress continued as she moved from Accounts Assistant to Financial Accountant Trainee.

Despite the demands of full-time work and personal commitments, Izzy managed to complete her AAT level 2 in 18 months. In 2024, due to the flexible nature of her course, she significantly accelerated her pace, successfully completing 8 exams in just 7 months, including the entirety of her AAT level 4 in just 4 months.

A Stepping Stone to ACCA

Completing her AAT level 4 opened doors for Izzy. It not only qualified her for her current role as a Financial Accountant Trainee but also allowed her to embark on her ACCA studies through a Level 7 apprenticeship. Izzy’s ambition is to become a chartered accountant within the next 3 years, and she is excited about the opportunities that lie ahead.

Motivations for Studying AAT

Izzy’s decision to study AAT was driven by several key motivations. She recognised the potential to broaden her career prospects, achieve a respected qualification, and enter the accounting field without prior experience. Additionally, AAT provided her with a solid foundation for pursuing further studies like ACCA.
