Cheap deals should be avoided when investing in your future

Cheap – Adjective – meaning:

“Low in price, especially in relation to similar items or services”

“Inexpensive because of inferior quality”

Would YOU be able to spot a cheap copy from the genuine article?

At first glance these watches seem identical…and why wouldn’t you make that assumption?! The strap, the crown, the face, the glass…they all look the same! The only way you’ll be able to tell them apart is by closely examining each, and comparing them to one another. Only then will the proverbial cracks start to show.

The same could be said for courses. There are a wide array of training providers that offer what appear to be the same courses, but for varying prices! So, with that mind, why wouldn’t you just sign up for the cheap offer?? “They’re all the same, right?” WRONG!

“You get what you pay for”

“Buy cheap, buy twice”

There are many other idioms, but I think you get the idea.

With a watch/toaster/jacket etc.… you’re buying a product with a certain shelf-life; some buying a replica watch will accept that it won’t last particularly long, so they’re happy to buy the cheap option, but with a bookkeeping or accounting course, IT IS VERY DIFFERENT! You’re NOT just buying a product; you’re investing IN YOUR FUTURE!

When you’re doing a spot of DIY, it stands to reason that you’d have the right tools before starting the job; it makes the job easier, and you’re able to complete it quicker, and with much less fuss, so why wouldn’t you adopt the same approach when deciding on which course you’ll be buying?!

• If applicable, are exam fees included?
• Is software included, and if so, what type, and are there any recurring charges?
• Are you provided with genuine, personal tutor support?
• How long will you have to wait to have your work marked?
• Are the online resources sufficiently robust and up-to-date?
• Are they tailored to your learning (not simply generic templates provided to all students regardless of the course)?
• Is the material and any associated screenshots up-to-date?
• Has the course material been tailored to the distance learning student?
• Does the training provider have any industry standard awards that demonstrate their commitment to their students?

There could be many more questions that you could ask yourself, or the course provider, and we encourage you to do so! Investing in your future should never be taken lightly, and course providers should be happy to answer all of your questions.
