ICB Level 2 Certificate in Bookkeeping
On this level 2 ICB qualification, you will learn the principles that underpin double-entry bookkeeping. And upon completion, you will be able to competently manage the bookkeeping and accounts for your own or your partner’s business, or apply for Jobs in Bookkeeping and Accounts.
More detail about the topics of this course can be found here.
ICB Level 3 Certificate in Bookkeeping
In this level 3 course, you will learn how to produce a VAT Return, control the sales and purchases ledgers, and post year-end adjustments. You will also learn how to produce the final accounts for sole traders, partnerships, not-for-profit organisations and Limited Companies. You’ll understand the basics of the different accounting standards (IFRS and UKGAAP).
More detail about the topics of this course can be found here.
ICB Diploma in Payroll Management Level 3
The ICB Level 3 Diploma in Payroll Management course is suitable for beginners and you will gain the knowledge and qualification you need for a career in payroll management. It’s also ideal if you have worked in payroll but want formal recognition that comes from gaining a qualification.
More detail about the topics of this course can be found here.
ICB Level 4 Certificate in Self-Assessment Tax
All self-employed people are required by law to complete a Self-Assessment Tax Return every year, so this can provide a very good revenue stream. In the past, this would be left to a third-party accountant but with this knowledge and qualification it means all of the Bookkeeping right through to Year End and submission of the Tax Return can now be handled by the ICB Certified Bookkeeper.
More detail about the topics of this course can be found here.
There are no prerequisites, but you need to have basic numerical skills and a good understanding of the English language.
If you have any questions please contact us.
On completion of levels 2 and 3 bookkeeping, you can upgrade your ICB membership status and use the letters MICB after your name. You can also use the title of ‘ICB Certified Bookkeeper’. You will also be able to work as a self-employed bookkeeper or work for a company as a bookkeeper.
After completing the Payroll course, you could set up your own payroll business, or offer a payroll service for a bookkeeping and accountancy practice.
When you’ve gained the Self Assessment Tax certificate you will open up an extra revenue stream and maximise the amount you can earn from each client.
Level 2
For the Level 2 course, there are three exams. The ‘A1’ and ‘A2’ exams are online so you will need a reliable Internet connection and a computer.
The ‘A3’ Paper is a home-based assignment where you will need to upload a report.
Level 3
For the Level 3 course, there are four 3-hour online exams. They can be taken at home or your place of work. You will need a reliable Internet connection and a computer.
The fifth exam is a 2-hour synoptic. This would typically be taken at an ICB exam centre, however, since Coronavirus this is currently available by remote invigilation. You would need to keep your webcam turned on throughout the exam.
Self-Assessment Tax Returns
This is assessed by one online assessment, taken in the candidate’s home or place of work.
The assessment will be available to complete for a period of forty-eight hours.
The exam is a series of tasks, such as entering amounts into screens that resemble an online self-assessment return. Other tasks involve calculations that show an understanding of the calculation of tax, National Insurance Contributions, Capital Allowances, Capital Gains Tax and adjusted net profit.
Level 3 Payroll
You can take the exam from home by assignment.
You have 14 days to access the exam once you’ve applied for it, and 24 hours to complete the paper once you have started it. Results can take up to 28 days.
The cost of exams can increase at the discretion of the awarding body (ICB). If you include the exam fees as part of your enrolment, we will pay for all exam fees up to the agreed value at the time of purchase, but you would need to pay for any subsequent increase.
